Greeting from the West
Greetings Brethren! It’s “Carlos from the West” signing on again and I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! May it be a prosperous one for you all!
Well, it is time for the ‘Changing of the guard’ here at Downey United. On Sunday, January 15th we will have our 142nd Annual Installation of Officers. The event will begin at 2pm in the afternoon on the second floor of Downey United Masonic Lodge. After the ceremony, we will be enjoying an Italian dinner so come one, come all! Just do not forget to inform the office if you are coming, and how many guests you will be bringing so we can order enough food for everyone.
In 2012, I will be limiting my articles to the events and activities that we are going to enjoy and to the advancement of our new candidates through the degrees, I will leave the freelancing to the Wardens. I look forward to another great year at Downey. We have a great corps of Officers who care about the Lodge, and are ready to do a great job in their respective stations,
At this time I would like to inform you all of a change that we are going to implement starting February 2012. Starting in February 2012 we will be having our Stated Meeting dinner for Masons only. This is to satisfy 2 purposes, first, to save some money on the Stated Meeting dinners and apply it to the Family night dinners. During our Stated Meetings we will be opening lodge early at 6pm and going to refreshment at 6:30pm for dinner. At 7:30pm we will be calling the lodge back to order and begin our Stated Meeting Immediately thus saving 20-30 minutes of time. After we close the lodge, we will have a “Masonic Roundtable” chat and share session with whoever wants to attend. This will be open for all Masons new, and old. So, those who desire a short, concise meeting will get it so they can go home earlier, and those who wish to remain at Lodge and discuss Masonry can do that as well. All of the Family Night dinners will have a show and/or presentation attached to them. The money saved from the Stated Meeting dinners will be applied to the entertainment of the Family Night dinners. So, there it is in a nutshell, I hope that this change will please everyone.
